3rd Birthday Review and Giveaway #1

Ok, here's how it's gonna work. I am going to give you 3 different reviews of Sissy's birthday because there were 3 days of celebration. And there will be 3 different giveaways. And she turned 3. See a pattern?
Each review will have a corresponding giveaway of something small that I recently made. You will have to comment on each post to be entered. Enter all of them or just the one you are interested in...whatever is fine with me.
Here we go.

Sister turned 3 last Wednesday, so on Tuesday night, we started putting together her birthday present from Mimae and Papa. (I don't think I have ever told you, but it is pronounced Mee-may. And Sissy will correct you if you say MiMi, even if you are Mimae and calling yourself MiMi. It is important for us all to use our given Southern Accent.)
Anyway, Sissy told us that she wanted it to be a surprise, so we just got everything out and started putting it together so she could guess as we went.
WB laid it out on the ground and asked her what she thought it was (while jumping on it). She said "It's one of these." Then he showed her a picture of it and asked her again. Her reply "It's this." She still didn't know.

She was really more interested in helping put it together and even used the drill with WB (she has been scared of the noise since she was little)

Finally, we flipped it over and she figured it out! She was so excited! She said "I GOT A WHAMPOLINED!" We let her jump on it even though it was really late-it was almost like she couldn't believe she got one. I think she could jump for hours!

On Wednesday, her birthday, I woke her up to "Happy Birthday" -traditional and Imagination Movers style- and birthday pancakes with smiley faces and candles. She asked for candles for the next 3 mornings!

Here she is showing you that she is 3 because it was too early to talk. She is a morning person just like mommy!

She got a new T-O since her other 2 have big rips in them that she won't let me sew up because "She needs to put her hand in there." I let her pick out a new one...this one has velvet on the back and satin on the front. I want one too!

Then we went to Costco, because who doesn't love to do that on their birthday?! And ran a few other errands to get ready for the parties. We had lunch then early nap because...

That afternoon, WB had to be at work for a training thing and he wanted us to go too since it was Sissy's b-day and he thought she would like to see the fire truck (it was a joint thing with the fire department)
Basically, WB works underground in the big manholes you see in the road. There are underground cables down there for things like the hospital, all of Downtown, commercial buildings, medical buildings, etc. So, in these instances there are totally different and more dangerous things that can go wrong when working underground. Example:if there is some sort of fire, there is no fast way for them to get out of there because the space is so confined...so they were having a session with the fire dept on how to get them out.

This was suppose to last 30-45 minutes. Right. This is what we saw for about an hour...

OOHH! Did you see that? One guy moved his arm and another moved his head!

So, we played in the back of a truck.

And got nasty grocery store feet!

Sister enjoyed a lolipop-as well as every other snack in my bag-it was a long 30 minutes that turned into 2 hours!

And just when they were getting to the "rescue" part, what happened? Sister had to go to the bathroom. Happens every time.
We showed her the fire truck-she cared nothing about it. She only wanted to go down the ladder into the hole where they were doing the demo. We finally left when I ran out of snacks and we had gone through all of the packed activities. Good thing I overpacked! WB had good intentions!

But, we enjoyed the trampoline some more.

Up next: Sissy's "Friends" Birthday Party-

Post a comment if you want to be in the drawing. I will close this one on Monday, June 15th at 10:00 PM. Winner will be posted with the next Birthday Review and giveaway on Tuesday.

Progress Report - 3rd and final for a week or so

For some reason one of the legs looks smaller than the other...I promise it is not that way in real life!

Here is Buddy's Turtle Jon Jon made from a Martha Pullen pattern (in her applique book). This pattern seemed to be short in the stride by about 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Be aware if you make it. Meaning listen to ME and not the ladies at the fabric shop who swear what you have heard about the pattern is wrong.
And, even though Martha "promises" it will only take an hour...she is wrong. Maybe for her since she has sewn for 40 years. Not for me who has sewn on and off for a few years.
It is a more wide & short Jon Jon. Buddy will only wear it 1 season unless he has another growth spurt. I should have gone with my first thought and made a size up.

Here is something I have learned in the past few weeks. I should go with my first thought. I use to be the person who makes a decision in about 5 minutes and then moves on. But, for some reason, this year, I have been more likely to think about things more. Dumb. I am going back to my old self starting right now. No more over thinking for me!

Next week is Sister's 3rd birthday! Her actual birthday is on Wednesday and she has parties on Friday and Saturday. So, I will be busy next week cleaning, making cupcakes, decorating, decorating cupcakes, getting last minute items, cleaning the back patio, praying that it doesn't rain.
I am not sure I will be able to get to the blog that much, but when I return (I mean me in the flesh, not blogger scheduled posts) I will have 3 giveaways just for you! I will be making each one of them and think they are pretty useful items. Hopefully y'all will like them.
Then, I will get back to my fabric pile to get more of sister's outfits made. I love the way the mingo dress turned out and am considering making that pattern into a shirt with ruffle capris. HMMMM...
Are y'all tired of seeing what I sew? You can be honest...or just comment anonymously.

Progress Report 2

How about some pink flamingos with pink polkadots on turquiose? You can't tell what the fabric looks like because compressing the pic made it blurry. UGH. I keep having that problem lately.
Anyway, this is Simplicity 5118 with the changes I saw here.
Sissy will be wearing her "mingos" to church on Sunday.

Next up? A turtle jon-jon for Buddy. It says it will only take an hour. I'll let you know.

Progress Report 1

I am so glad to be able to post progress. I have been waiting for a breath to be able to make some applique clothing for my own kiddos - and I finally took that breath!! Cause, sometimes you just have to take it in order to have it!
Here are a few of the things I made for them these past couple of days. I think the little girl shirt and the patriotic shirts are my favorite!

I have posted more items at SisterBug! Check it out!!

Her eyes don't show up since I compressed the picture, but I think it turned out cute!

This is the shirt Sister will wear for her family birthday party. Our theme this year is polka dots! More on all of that later!

What about the fabric stack? Well, it has moved locations because it was on my ironing board and I needed to iron. But, other than that, no scissors have touched it. I wanted to get all of the applique done for the kids first. I am planning to get everything ironed and laid out to cut tomorrow. Maybe Sunday I will start snipping. I will let you know in Progress Report 2 hopefully coming soon!

Update: I went back and read this and realized that tomorrow and Sunday are the same day. Guess I will be ironing tonight!

Too many different things to make a title

Well, yet another busy week is almost half over! I will just tell you that I have put on makeup everyday this week and have not been able to skip my extra day of not washing my hair. And, this will continue until way into next week. My face is wondering why I am mistreating it because there are usually at least 3 days during the week that I do not cover it with gunk. And, I don't wear lots of gunk, just a little bit. Actually, the bare minimum because I am lazy like that.

I think I told you of all of the birthday's this week...and Sister's will be here in a few weeks-2 weeks from today. And, then there is SisterBug, the landscaping business, life in general. So lots going on. But I was able to get my house cleaned! Praise The LORD!! I can breathe a little easier these days. Now, if I could only have a million or so dollars in a savings account somewhere.

Anyway, below I am going to recap everything that I have failed to post along with some updates on life in general. Then I am going to ask for a break for a little bit, with a promise to return with a giveaway or 3...of things I will make. Except I haven't come up with #3 yet. Just summing it up for you skimmers.

We'll start with Mother's Day...which I thought was about 3 weeks ago until WB informed me it was just a week and a half. Score 1 for me-I am not as behind as I thought.

This is why we need a professional to get a family picture (more on that in a minute)

Something we will be eating a lot of this summer...corn on the cob! Buddy's first experience!
And, no I do not let Sister walk around during meals. Buddy just kept fussing for the corn long after our meal was over. He ate his and then some of WB's and we finally had to clear the table because he wanted all corn in his sight.

He had his 15 month check up and is apparently a lot taller than I thought. 90th percentile. Hello! I had been thinking he was short. If he did all of that growing, why are his little thighs still so rolly? I feel his pain-I can't get rid of my thighs either.

He's also trying to walk. Maybe that's what he will give to Sister for her birthday. This is another reason I am busy. Kissing lots of boo boos. He has a big bruise beside his eye now. I remember this stage with Sissy. I thought people were going to think I was beating her.

A few weeks ago-actually, I found these pictures in my April folder. I just lost the point I scored above-Sister told me "Mommy, Papa needs my help! I have GOT to go ride the tractor!"

So, I obliged and we had about an hour or so of Farm School. Subject: planting corn
When they get older, they will go to Farm School for a whole day without me. Right, Papa?

I went to look at our family pictures today. And, they were so good that I CRIED. Yes, I did. I don't think I can get them off of the cd that I was given, but if I can, I will post a few. I was worried that I had smiled to big and lost my upper lip, which is something you have probably noticed, but I didn't. They are wonderful, expensive, but wonderful! In 15 years, I will be wishing we were still this size-all of us. If I can't get them off of the disk, I will scan them once they come in.

Now, on to my plea.
Please note: this is in NO WAY a complaint!

My friends, there are not enough hours in the day for us! I do not want to tell you what time I get up and what time I go to bed these days. So, something has got to be put on hold for a little bit because I have this...

to make into wonderful clothing for my kiddos. (and some baby gifts)

And, my ricrac basket is in such shambles I have no idea what is in there and what might jump out and bite me...

And I can hardly speak about my ribbon and thread cabinet...which only has part of my ribbon and thread in it and isn't in color order anymore. The disorganization is killing me!

So, I will be taking a little break from blogging about our happenings in order to get things done. But, I will have a Weekly (or maybe more often if I am getting things done) Progress Report where I will post pictures of my, well, progress, I guess. I hope that will interest y'all.
In the meantime, please don't do anything fun that I will miss out on. Although, I did see that Joy is having a week of giveaways that I will have to check out. (There might be a SisterBug reference in there!)
And, I do promise to have 3 giveaways in honor of Sister's 3rd birthday and my return. Which hopefully will be soon.
Is that ok? (Like the way I am bribing y'all? I do that with my kids sometimes too. You can pretend you don't do it too. I know you do.)

And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Uncle Bub! We love you and miss you and hope to see you this weekend!

Last thing, I promise. SisterBug is not closed during this hiatus. So, if you need something-email me!
