A Couple of Great Memories

I was rocking both of my sweet babies just a few minutes ago when I had these 2 images flash in my mind. It was my Papaw's expressions when we told him we were pregnant.
The first time when we were pregnant with Sissy, he was there when we told my parents for the first time. We gave mom a frame that said "Coming in June" and let her figure it out. Papaw (who was VERY hard of hearing even with his hearing aides) just sat there patiently while all of the commotion was going on, until we told him what it was all about (since he didn't hear anything that was said). He just about jumped out of his chair. I will never forget the look on his face. He said "You're still my baby." (which is what he said when WB and I got engaged)
The second time, we told them at Father's Day dinner. This was a shock to everyone since Sissy's first birthday was just the weekend before. Again, everyone was picking up their chins off the floor and crying while Papaw was patiently waiting for everyone to clue him in. When we told him...he just looked at us for a few minutes as if to soak it all in...then he got the same proud look and said "That's great!"
He LOVED his great-grandchildren and would light up when they came around. They loved him too. Sissy loved to go visit him and play with the tractors he had at his house. We always had to take him some kind of treat for her to share with him. Bubba liked to sit in Papaw's lap and try to chew on his oxygen cord. Papaw didn't care...he just wanted to see them playing.
I really miss him more every day. I thought it would get easier, but it hasn't. I am just so glad that I was able to spend 30 years with one of the best men ever. I can only thank God for that time. I hope I will never forget.

Here they are...

Since sleep hasn't come easy for me this week, I have been applique-ing my little heart out. I have so many ideas sketched out on paper in the craft room but I thought I would start with a couple of holiday ones. (Plus, I made some for birthday gifts for this afternoon) I will say that me and my sewing machine are becoming really close friends although I am currently mad at it. (It's more of an issue between me and the bobbin...you don't want to know what goes on up here in the wee hours of the morning) I need my creative outlet to keep me sane.
Anyway, I think they turned out really cute. (How-to from here.)

(I have more to say about my Papaw but I am waiting on the pictures of our last visit with him that are on my mom's camera...we are thankful for that visit!)

My heart is broken, his heart is full

My grandfather passed away on Sunday night. He is with her now...the love of his life.

And I am here with this ol broken heart selfishly wanting him to be here with me. And, also jealous that he is with her and has been hanging out with God Himself.

And, wondering how this little one will take it...

Knowing she will not even begin to understand.
Please pray for our family.

What are My doing?

I posted this yesterday but for some reason it errored out so here it is again, yet condensed. I am sure you will all be happy!

'My' is a word that is synonomous for many things around here. It can mean I, I'm, My, Mine. Here are a few examples...
That's My's.
That's what My want.
That's what My talkin' bout.
What are My doing?
Is that My's?
Watch My.
I do not feel the need to correct this because it will eventually correct itself. There are 'those people' out there that say "Make sure you don't let your babies talk baby talk or they will never learn the real word for things." Seriously. What adult do you know that says that's what my talkin bout? Exactly. I say let them be little because it won't be long before they will be all grown up and you will have to go back to work. Boo!

So, because Sissy LOVES trains these days and makes them out of anything that she can line up, I thought I would let y'all see a couple. This is usually what I see when I hear "Mommy, what are my doing?"

Making a train out of the dining room chairs. Choo Choo!
So proud of her accomplishment with her sunglasses on crooked and her Uncle Bub's John Deere shirt. A new fave of the month.
This is Mimae, cow, Papa, MooMoo, and horsey all lined up in a train fashion watching the 'quarium. I was in the kitchen and I heard "Papa, you wanna watch the 'quarium with MooMoo?" The little figurines are from a farm truck thing she has. She aptly named them Mimae and Papa.
I can't show pics of SisterBoo without showing Bubba-Stanka-Pot. He LOVES to play ball and will roll it back to you as long as you will sit there. He is also a ham for the camera and knows he is suppose to smile when it is pointed at him. Precious, right?

Praying

This is something that has been on my mind for a while and I thought I would blog about it to get it out and do something about it. Plus, both kiddos are hopefully down for a good nap as long as the loud front-end loader digging in the creek outside doesn't wake them up.

Praying is a challenge for me. When I worked, I would use the hour commute to and from work as my 'me and God time' but since I don't have that now, I sometimes find at the end of the day that I have only said prayers with the kids and that is it. Then, when I start to pray, I fall asleep.
I am also an extremely faithful person who believes that God takes care of everything. So, sometimes I find (after the fact) that I don't pray for things/situations because subconsciously I know He is taking care of them. I am not a worrier because I feel that is like telling God that He can't handle things for you. But, I also know that He longs for us to have conversations with him about everything.
God has been so good to me and my family and I feel that I don't really do him justice daily as I should. I get stuck in the rut of my mommy/wifely duties that I don't spend the time with him that he wants or that I truly NEED. (I don't mean rut in a bad way either...you mommies know what I'm talking about) I am always trying to get that last dish washed, or load of laundry folded, or spend a few minutes with WB since I don't get that many, or wiping booties, or cooking, or...well, yall get the picture.
So, I guess the point to all this ramble is that I need to work on my prayer habits. That's probably what I should be doing right now.

A Ladybug and a Spider

That's what we were this year. I wanted to do Miss Muffet and a spider but since I have a 2 year old with an opinion who stated "No, I don't wanna be Miss Muffet, I wanna be a 'pider like Bubba" I decided to talk her into a ladybug (which she loves so it wasn't hard) and go with that. I was not going to waste my time making a Miss Muffet when I know this strong willed little girl would not wear it. Not sure where the strong willed comes from :)
We have attended lots of Halloween festivities over the past week so I will just narrate all of the pictures.

Here they are on their way to the annual Halloween Party at our good friend's house 2 doors down. Notice the big pumpkin was not carved yet...it was going with us for the pumkin carvin that the guys do. (the finished product is below) Brooke has a really good camera and took lots of pictures, so this is the only one I have. All of the others are on snapfish. Sorry. But, it was an action packed night to say the least. Our buds know how to throw a halloween party!
Funfest was last Sunday at our church. We came home and napped real quick so that we could get back to the 'carnival' as we had been referring to it. This was the picture scene. Sissy did not want her picture taken and Bubba wanted to eat the hay. Usual.
Sissy really only cared about the playground and this thing. She loves going 'ring round rosie' which is what she says anytime she is doing anything in a circular motion.
Bubba is wearing my daddy's hat from when he was a baby. It also has a coat and overalls that match which I am sure you will see him in again. He looks so cute in it. Yall know this is the best baby. EVER. He napped about 25 minutes during church and about 1 1/2 hours at home. He was up from 2:30-8pm and did not whimper one time! What a good one!
Here's the pumpkin. He was so much cuter the day after being carved. This was him a week later after someone apparently took his upper false teeth out. I can't even get the pumpkin to cooperate for a picture!
Sister Bug on Halloween (I think we lost our antenae at the doctor's office earlier that day. She said she should wear it so she could get candy. Little did she know she would be getting the flu mist.) Potty training is going pretty good. There were a couple of days where she would say "I don't want to go potty. Thank you for telling me." At least she's polite.
My little Bubba Spider who turned 9 months on Halloween. He is 22# 2oz and 27 1/2 inches, getting tooth #6, turning circles in his bed, saying MaMa, Dada, Buba, Hi and just being the sweetest little boy I could have ever dreamed of.
Sissy in action. It only took her a few times to realize if she said "Whick or Wheat" she would get candy. She would almost whisper it though. But, she was the loud one when people's dogs came out. She would yell "NO DOG!" Now, go back and read that in the most southern accent you can come up with. (We trick or treated with 3 other families)
Bubba Spider and Daddy. Why, you say, does WB have on that same orange shirt in every picture? Because he LOVES it and wears it all of the time. Buy him something else, you say? I have. He doesn't 'dress up' in real clothes much, but when he does he wants to wear the same bright as everything orange shirt. He even has Sissy telling him to wear it so he can say she wants him to. It may mysteriously disappear one day. Things like that have been known to happen around here. At least he was with us though!
Hope y'all had a good one and have already hidden all but a few pieces of the candy like I did.
